I just signed up for Honda’s Internavi service. This service allows my car to always have the latest traffic conditions for all roads including local roads, weather at my current location and destination, I can plot routes on my computer then download them into my car for my own unique routing system. The wireless communications card from Willcom lets me do all this at a low monthly cost of about 1,000 yen. (Of course, you can also plug in your cell phone). With this system, my car can automatically download titles of CDs that I play on my car stereo. As a bonus, the HDD stereo automatically copies all songs onto the HDD in my car, so that I never have to insert the same CD more than once… This should be standard on all cars…. Anyway, thanks to the campaign, the card is free as long as I prepay 3 years of service (31,764 yen — about $300, the card is about $60 otherwise….).
Follow up: After I signed up for the service online, the commuincations card was delivered to my doorstep within the hour! That was super fast service from Willcom, the service provider. I still have to ensure my registration is complete at Honda’s Premium Internavi Service Page…And you can even view the traffic data using Google Earth. Club members can use Google Earth to view their planned route.
