My Xperia just downloaded a software update. Not sure what was updated. Still firmware ver 1.6 and BaseBand Version 1.024....Oh but wait...It went from build R1EA018 to build R1EA025.

And it came with two overt improvements...I can make changes to the keyboard layout and mora touch is added to Mediascape. But the other, more difficult to pinpoint is that the machine feels faster. It used to stutter when I pressed 'the shift key', or the letter 'a', but now that seems to be fixed. Unlocking no longer seems to stick. I hope this is not just a temporary condition that makes me think things have improved. Time will tell.

Now if they can only improve the keyboard (to be more like the HTC keyboard) and then get better battery management (maybe like JuiceDefender?.....) I'm just saying.....

Sure! Hopefully I'll be getting a newfangled Droid or something by the end of summer. It'll make posting easier, too! :)

Hi Nickie, I love my paper books too. I have shelves and shelves of them. I even take them out for (all too short) reading sessions.

But I must admit, I am a junkie. When I get on the train, my electronic gadgets keep me entertained. And as I started reading more and more books on my phone, I started longing for a new kind of book...When new medium comes along, you get to experiment with new ways presenting your material to the world. I hope you'll join me in the quest for more unique electronic presentations....even as we continue to make paper products!

After spending all day on a computer, the last thing I want to do is read something on a computer! I love, LOVE the feel, smell, and sound of books. Real ones, especially with pictures (I'm biased, of course!) My oldest books are the most cherished. Dog eared, stained, filled with memories of who I was when I first read some of those stories.

I still don't have a smartphone, though, so I can't comment on texting or other of those new-fangled features!

Another <del datetime="2010-06-13T14:31:42+00:00">App...WordPress....does not work well.</del> I attempted to edit this blog using <del datetime="2010-06-13T14:31:42+00:00">that App</del>....I ended up with question marks sprinkled throughout this post. And it was difficult to navigate through the post. The problem with the WordPress app was solved by turning the phone sideways (landscape mode). However, the WordPress Browser page still has trouble making edits. The WordPress apps seems to be the best way to update the blog.

It would be nice if the Android keyboard had a cursor up/down in addition to the very useful cursor left/right.

Would be nice if the iPhone at least had a left/right cursor. Not sure why Apple decided to skimp on that simple feature.
If only the iPhone had that feature on their keyboard...that alone would make it more usable. Can you edit the keyboard on the Apple? I know you can edit the keyboard on the Android.....

28 May 2010 Update:
The new phone that I received from DoCoMo is behaving much better that the original phone. I will have to retest the Juice Defender and Alternate Home Pages.
For now, I am living with the inferior apps hoping for improvements. The keyboard is still frustrating and the e-mail clients that come preloaded leave much to be desired.
Music apps that allow you to play keyboards or drums do not work well on the Xperia. The touch screen lag does not allow you to keep anything but the slowest rhythm.

Hey Dylan!
Very cool!
He has a great voice!
Reminds me of when you did the same sort of thing with the reel-to-reel. Oh how technology has changed!
Cheers!

I am proud to announce that this post is the most popular post on my site. As a matter of fact, it is visited most often by the Russian and Casino posters that I mentioned in my text. Truly I am honored. I must admit though, I send most (hmmm all?) of their replies to the dust bin. As I mentioned before, I don't like spam and most (did it again...all!) of their posts are spam. Granted, they throw in some nice compliments once in a while....(like "nice post"...or "interesting"...etc.) but its just spam.
I am looking for another winning post. Perhaps I will try a post that just lists all the subjects that they find interesting. I won't even use any verbs or punctuation. Leave the sugar bowl out and the ants come quickly....
